In the summer of 2005, three of DC’s most in-demand musicians formed a new band. Giambusso, Hovey & Zidar became GHz [Gigahertz] and carved out their sound by knocking out hits and deep cuts by the greatest power trios of the 60’s and 70’s: Cream, Hendrix, Zeppelin and others. Next, they took the elements of what made the first “jam bands” sound better then their imitators and propelled that music to the present.

The first GHz effort from February 2009 was "There’s Trouble Coming" and featured five new originals mixed in with several contemporary remakes of hits and B-sides by Cream, Hendrix, and the Doors. The band’s 2010 release was "Morbid Curiosity", and continued where the first album left off with ten original tunes that combine even more psychedelic adventure, sonic exploration and explosive playing. The tunes are rocking, yet sometimes spacious; full of odd meters, combustive improvisation, and melodies you can never get out of your head. GHz uses quirky, whimsical lyrics to rattle the cages of the beasts of modern society and dissect themes of the human condition, fantasy love, and deep madness.

On the new album, Scott Giambusso's bass lines drive relentlessly, but are incredibly melodic and flawlessly musical. Dan Hovey's guitars are a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet of fuzz, wah-wah, phaser and echo, played with a passion and virtuosity like Clapton or Hendrix in their prime. The polyrhythmic drumming of John Zidar, an octopus who permits no shade in his garden, rockets each groove beyond Jupiter and sends DJs with their drum machines crying home to Mama. More Trouble Is Coming with their third release expected later in 2011.
